2016 Roland Garros R2 Rafael Nadal def. Facundo Bagnis 6/3 6/0 6/3
Nine-time Roland Garros champion Rafael Nadal became the eighth player in tennis history to record 200 Grand Slam match wins on Thursday in Paris.
Nadal, who will celebrate his 30th birthday on 3 June, improved to 200-30 lifetime at the four major championships by beating Facundo Bagnis 6-3, 6-0, 6-3 in one hour and 46 minutes for a place in the third round.
“I even didn’t know this stat. For me the most important thing is a victory in the second round, as that’s only another number, and that’s it. Being able to win in straight sets is good news. I am just looking forward to play the next match,” Nadal said.
“I need to keep playing better and better if I want to keep having chances in the next round, but I happy the way I was playing today. Let’s see if I’m able to play the same or a little bit better next.”
