♦ The second classified team was led by Philip White, President and CEO of Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates, and the Czech Republic team came in third place.
♦ Other prizes were: men’s longest drive for Pep Juaneda, female’s longest drive for Lynn Pearce, the ball closest to the flag went to Peter Mason, Remigijus Maujauskas, and Joan Suasi; and the player with the best individual score during the three days of competition was Albert Ferrer with 114 points.
♦ Around 80 attendees, including players and companions, stayed at the Rafa Nadal Sports Centre where they enjoyed three days in Manacor’s sports center facilities making use of the fitness center and the spa.
The First edition of the Rafa Nadal Golf Challenge by Sotheby’s International Realty Tournament organized by the Rafa Nadal Sports Centre ended yesterday, February 18th in the Son Gual golf course. The competition took place after three intense days of play and several social events with great weather and pristine conditions on all three golf courses: Son Servera, Pula and Son Gual.
As teams go, the best classified team was led by Rafa Nadal, followed by Philip With’s, President and CEO of Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates LLC, the main sponsor of the tournament; and the Czech Republic team. Other prizes were: men’s longest drive by Pep Juaneda, female’s longest drive went to Lynn Pearce, and the ball closest to the flag went to Peter Mason and Joan Suasi. The player with the best individual score during the three days of competition was Albert Ferrer with 114 points.
The development of the Rafa Nadal Golf Challenge by Sotheby’s International Realty Tournament
Around 80 attendees, including players and companions, stayed at the Rafa Nadal Sports Centre facilities from Thursday to Sunday where two out of the three dinners were held for the Tournament. The first dinner was held on Thursday, February 15 to welcome all the participants and conduct the drawing for the competition.
Another highlight of the social event was the dinner held on Saturday in the trophy room of the Rafa Nadal Museum Xperience, where around 100 people enjoyed a special cocktail and a seated menu in one of the most unique halls of the museum. Guests were surrounded by all the trophies of the tennis player, as well as donations from international athletes that make up the collection of the Manacor museum. Among them are the 16 Grand Slam trophies of the tennis player, the car used by Fernando Alonso when he won the World Cup, the “Espada” of Induráin, the golf bag of Ryder Cup 1997 Captain, Severiano Ballesteros, t-shirts and soccer cleats from professional players, among many other elements. After dinner, there was a flamenco show and a tasting of Royal Bliss.
Rafa Nadal was the host of the event and thanked Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates for the confidence placed in the Rafa Nadal Sports Centre for organizing a golf event with these characteristics. Nadal also said he was very pleased with how the tournament was taking place and also thanked the rest of the sponsors for helping to organize this first edition.
The Tournament has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the main sponsor Sotheby’s International Realty and the following sponsors: Roig, Coca-Cola, Estrella Damm, Quely, Catello Banfi, Cuixot de Porc Negre and Formatge Marcadal.
“We are having great weather conditions and I am very enthusiastic for future editions of this golf tournament”, concluded Nadal during his speech on Saturday night.
For his part, Philip White highlighted, after the celebration of the tournament: “this has been a huge success because we have gathered affiliates of our brand at the Rafa Nadal Sports Centre who have come from different countries to play golf and enjoy a few days of competition and fun”. White competed with Rafa Nadal on Friday and Saturday and shared great moments of play and relaxation with the tennis player. At the end of one of these days, White said that this would not be the last edition of this golf tournament and he hopes to add many more editions in the future.
During the three days of competition, the tournament was played in the golf courses of Son Servera Golf, Pula Golf and Son Gual Golf, under the Stableford individual modality where the best five team scoresheets of the day scored for the team’s result. Six mixed teams made up of eight players each, participated in the first edition of the Tournament. Each team was composed of guests from different Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates offices around the world.
