Rafa Nadal will end, David Ferrer will end, Gala Leon will end,. José Luis Escañuela will end as president but tennis will still be there . All these things are doing a terrible harm to tennis , to the sponsors investing in our sport, to enthusiasm of kids and parents . The situation in the last 9 months is totally unexplainable and I still dont understand this whole of negative things. The continuous try to want and want and want to create this situation
As a player, I do selfcriticism first. We have to look also at ourselves and our blames. A country with many players in the top 100 must not be in 2nd division of tennis and have to go to Russia to not be declassed. Personally I feel very sad . Obviously players have allowed this to happen and other people have made this situation still more difficult.
When Brughera generation finished, we had Moyà, Ferrero and the rest, and when that generation ended, another one came . There has always been a new generation . Today, Ferrer, Feliciano, Verdasco and myself have our age . We still have players but the truth is we are still waiting for the next geneartion . We have won 5 DC in the last 10 years. They cant come to us now and call us "peseteros" (money orientated) or say we lack interest...They have done for tennis much less than we have done. Of course we are the first beneficiaries of all we won. The fact that these people now say these things of us and want to make us to look bad in front of public opinion annoys me
You can say whatever you want, you can lie but when you speak in public , it remains and the harm is done. Honestly , I dont understand this whole situation when I think about it from a personal point of view. I never wanted more polemic than what we already had when the captain was nominated but now thats the least important thing . Its all a lot of things all together : from the president, to the vicepresident that now is president , its a mountain of unexplicable things.
They never understood what I said in Paris. FET is nothing for us: If we are realistic, we dont need them. We have our own tour and we earn our living there. They still dont undersand it. We have never played DC for money. We played becuase we wanted , because we lived in a positive atmosphere created by past captains through many years . All together: captain, players, the team, stringers, doctors. They gave much and it all made success . and now we are in this situation and they still dont understand .They need the players , the players dont need them. I say this also thinking about next generation of players.
When I said in IW : "its like if they put me to direct an hospital ," my words that were misinterpreted. I never meant Gala León because she was inside the tour and knows tennis. A different thing is her attitude since she is the captain.. I dont agree with her attitude and way of acting
When I said that in IW, I meant burocrats in the offices, directing sports they dont know nor love. Thats the problem we have now on sports and federations. It happens that people directing tennis doesnt know tennis . Thats the problem.
FET take money from the sponsors mainly . Mapfre is a very important sponsor for FET and of course players have something to do in Mapfre being the main sponsor., and of course we have something to do in the incomes of the FET for DC in the last 15 years. I think they have not taken the opportunity to make something good with that money, to make something that generated other incomes, as for example having a special tournament. Today, they come to annoy us, the people who lea st deserve to be annoyed to simply deviate or hide attention from other problems of bad management.

Это непрерывное "Медиа-шоу" очень некрасиво и теннис страдает чрезвычайно.
Рафа Надаль закончит карьеру, Давид Феррер закончит карьеру, Гала Леон закончит карьеру , Хосе Луис Escañuela закончит карьеру, как президент (Испанской Федерации тенниса), но теннис все еще будет существовать. Все эти вещи наносят страшный вред теннису, спонсорам, инвестирующим в наш спорт, энтузиазму детей и их родителей. После завершения поколения Бругейры, у нас были Мойя, Ферреро и другие, и когда ушло это поколение, пришли другие. Всегда было новое поколение. Сегодня Феррер, Фелисиано, Вердаско и я - наша эпоха. Мы всё еще играем, но правда в том, мы все ждем следующего поколения. Мы выиграли 5 Кубков Дэвиса за последние 10 лет. Федерация берёт деньги от спонсоров, главным образом. Mapfre является очень важным спонсором и, конечно, игроки должны что-то делать в Mapfre. И, конечно, мы делали что-то для доходов Федерации в течение последних 15 лет. Я думаю, что они не воспользовались возможностью, чтобы сделать что-то хорошее с этими деньгами, как, например, организовать специальный турнир.
