Rafael Nadal and Pau Gasol raised more than 14 million euros to fight COVID-19
The solidarity initiative #NuestraMejorVictoria, promoted by the Spanish athletes Pau Gasol and Rafa Nadal together with the Red Cross, has exceeded fourteen million euros in collection, thereby exceeding "by far" the goal set when it was launched with the aim of helping those affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Balearic tennis player highlighted in an Instagram talk that he maintained with the NBA center that the response they have obtained from colleagues from all sports disciplines and from anonymous people has been "spectacular" , for which he thanked the contributions to a project in the one who said that both limited themselves to "lighting the flame" and contributing their "grain of sand" to help those most in need.
"I think that between all of us we have achieved something important and also beautiful, not only for the collection, which today is over fourteen million, so that goal has been fully achieved, but for the camaraderie and solidarity that they have shown us" added the number two in world tennis.
For his part, Gasol thanked Nadal for proposing to him in his day to participate in an initiative that has had "a tremendous impact" and of which he was "super proud" since, in his opinion, it has provided an example of when the sport unites a response as "incredible" as that obtained by #NuestraMejorVictoria.
"That concern came out of you, so thank you for sharing it with me and doing something different and important at this level," added the Catalan center.
Gasol and Nadal announced on March 26 the solidarity campaign with the Red Cross with the aim of raising 11 million euros to serve more than 1,350,000 people.
