The Spaniard stayed away from tennis courts, which are like a second home for him, for the past many weeks.
Nadal uploaded a picture on his facebook page and wrote this caption, "Back on the court trying to recover the feelings.”
Neither Nadal nor his racket could be found in the picture but just a bag and a can of soft drink was lying on the floor. However, by looking at the surface, one thing was clear that it was a hard court. This means that the greatest fighter in modern tennis has resumed his training for the US Open.
This is an indication and point of relief for Nadal’s fans that the 2010 US Open champion is in no mood to withdraw from the last Grand Slam of the season. This also means that condition of Nadal’s knee has improved and it is now able to sustain load.
Nadal has not played any competitive match since losing to Lukas Rosol in the second round of this year’s Wimbledon Championships. After going down at the All England Club, Nadal revealed that he had been suffering from tendinitis in his knees once again.
This is the same injury which stopped the Spaniard from defending his Wimbledon title in 2009. Once again, it forced Nadal to withdraw from a number of high level tournaments. First, Nadal pulled out from the London Olympics and then two ATP World Tour Masters 1000 events, Rogers Cup and Western & Southern Open.
Nadal dropped to third position from second in the rankings after Wimbledon and if he fails to give his best performance at the US Open, his ranking will further slip to fourth.
From the comments on Nadal’s uploaded picture, it was evident that the fans of this 11-time Grand Slam champion are very happy to know this improvement. They are desperate to see their favorite tennis player back in action, hitting incredible top spin shots to dismantle all the top players.
