An injury prevented Rafael Nadal from competing in November's Nitto ATP Finals at The O2 in London. It also prevented the World No. 2 from attending and personally accepting the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award in the 2018 ATP World Tour Awards presented by Moët & Chandon.

The honour, voted by fellow ATP Tour players, recognised the Spaniard for his fair play, professionalism and integrity on and off the court in 2018. Nadal was a recipient of the same honour in 2010.

Two months later, the trophy is now on display at the Rafa Nadal Museum Xperience, a part of the Rafa Nadal Sports Centre, which also houses the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar on the Spaniard's home island of Mallorca. The trophy is part of an exhibit that showcases the trophies, plaques and medals that Nadal has earned since childhood, along with a collection of tennis-related items donated by peers since Nadal turned pro in 2001.

"I want to thank my fellow players for selecting me to receive the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award," Nadal said. "It makes it that more special to have been voted by my peers and on-court rivals. I also want to thank my fans, who are always there to support me."

Throughout his career, Nadal has won an ATP Tour award in each of the categories chosen by players: Newcomer (2003), Most Improved Player (2005), Comeback Player (2013) and Sportsmanship (2010, 2018). He was also awarded the trophy for being No. 1 at the end of the year on four occasions (2008, 2010, 2013, 2017) and was chosen by the ATP as the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian of the Year in 2011
