IMG today announced that world No. 2 Rafael Nadal will join the line-up for this week’s Aspall Tennis Classic held at The Hurlingham Club. The ultimate warm-up to Wimbledon, the event runs from Tuesday 27th – Friday 30th June 2017 and kicks off the British summer tennis season in true style.
Nadal will play two singles matches across the week; taking on Tomas Berdych on Wednesday 28th June and then Tommy Haas on Friday 30th June in his preparations for a third Wimbledon title. His appearance at the Aspall Tennis Classic follows his record-breaking 10th Grand Slam title win at Roland Garros, where he beat Stan Wawrinka in three straight sets. The Spanish star has won 15 grand slam titles and 30 ATP World Masters titles across his 16-year career so far, including The Barcelona Open, The ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Madrid, The US Open and The ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Madrid.
Combining timeless elegance and quintessentially British traditions, the Aspall Tennis Classic is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy some of the sport’s most loved players.
Nadal commented: “The Aspall Tennis Classic at The Hurlingham Club is a lot of fun and it’s always exciting to play in front of the UK fans, so I can’t wait to return this week. I’m working hard and enjoying every week as it comes, so this is the perfect way to get ready for Wimbledon.”
